Last.FM

This question is for the employees who check the forums on Plex.

Why does Plex, being a driving force to allow users to access all the content on any device, use Last.FM for music whether it’s a regular or premium library?

You use Last.FM data to make features of PlexAmp to work. I understand the company uses Gracenote to help with the premium music library, but that is solid, but Last.FM? Why? This website is entirely user-based and at times does not give basic, rich metadata about artists people add to their music library. I believe to make Plex better with music, I speak for many who feel the Last.FM agent needs to be removed and Plex must research another agent to use for Music data. Perhaps Musicbrainz?

Recently, the team created a blog about music and honestly the team needs a refresh on basic music metadata to use for artists even if that means people have to redownload data to upgrade the new metadata agent Plex can use for music. Last.FM is useless, user-based, and extremely disorganized.

I hope my comments are not ignored. Give Plex subscribers whether it is free, paid, or lifetime paid the opportunity to enjoy Plex more with a better metadata system for music. Musicbrainz is user-based, but organized.

Thank you!
