I had some intermittent issues in the past (I think after a PMS software update) with no thumbnails displayed and no videos playing.
I added both the Apple TV3 and PMS IP addresses in the “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”. No issues since then.
PMS > Settings > Network > “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”
