LG C9 TV: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error happening occasionally

You’re right, sorry, editted the original post :slight_smile:

Thanks.

@sa2000 We now have confirmation for this bug on LG OLED C9, LG OLED CX and LG NANO99.

@sa2000 Was something fixed in relation to this issue recently? Because right now (with PMS 1.32.8.7639 and Plex for LG 5.75.1) I can’t reproduce the issue any more with the file and steps that I’ve sent you.

Can any of the other affected users confirm that it is fixed for them too?

@cremor I am not aware of any changes - the issue I am sure is a timing one. I am continuing to see a failure using the Plex for Samsung app 5.75,1 and latest Plex Media Server version - with the failure arising after repeated back and forward seeks using the movie file with forced subtitles that you provided.

Ok, thanks for the information.

It’s still happening. I’ve since moved on to a powerful unraid build, with a 1660 Ti for transcoding (family and friends only) though I always direct play at home and it still happens every so often.

I haven’t followed this issue for a while but, yeah, still happens. I thought it could potentially be related to my previous underpowered server (odroid n2) but I can see nos it isn’t

Any news about this issue?

I’m running PMS v1.32.5.7349 and i got the same error on my LG CX.
Eventhough i’ve disabled video transcoding on PMS.
Audiotranscoding is the only thing i allow on my PMS.

It has never been an issue but it started once i updated to v1.32.5.7349
Before that i used a very old version and never had any issue.

Can any of the LG Users here (specifically LG CX Users) confirm if a newer version fixed this issue? What’s the most stable version atm?

I’m using version 1.32.8.7639 and I only rarely get the error now. I will only risk an update after Plex confirms a fix of this bug.

@sa2000 Are there any news?

(Also posting to keep this thread open.)

@ChuckPa Since @sa2000 is no longer working for Plex, could you please come back to this topic and provide an update?
Are the Plex developers aware of this issue? Any progress on a fix?

Post #91 contains an up-to-date summary of the problem. @sa2000 also reproduced the problem, see post #108.

I looked at the status of the issue ticket SA2000 opened.

Engineering has been able to recreate this but not reliably.

The know it’s a seek error. The playback position doesn’t update after that seek. They’re trying different techniques of coping with the LG (and Samsung) where the resident firmware doesn’t think it’s done seeking.

I don’t use my LG app much (I use Nvidia Shield).
Over the weekend (US holiday here), I’ll try to reproduce.

Hi @ChuckPa,

3 months have passed again and I want to prevent this thread from closing.
Are there any news to share?

@cremor

All I can say is that the player app (LG-WebOS part) , along with other players, are being re-written.

I don’t know more details because they’re keeping this one “close to the chest”.

Bumping to keep the thread open. Been stuck on the plex version of 2023-05-08 to avoid this issue and would love to upgrade at some point.
