Libraries gone, restore backup library not working

Server Version#: 1.14.0.5470
Player Version#:

I have the Plex server on Windows Home Server 2011. Recently, my libraries have disappeared and all that is showing on the player are the online things ie podcasts (not my libraries). I thought maybe the database had become corrupted or something, so I restored a backup as per the instructions. This did not have any effect.

Where to go from here?

Thanks.

Inspect the registry and take a look at whether the key LocalAppDataPath is existing.

If it does, look at its content and to which drive letter and folder name it points to.
If it is no folder, but only a sole drive letter, make sure it has a backslash after the colon
e.g. not E: but E:\

Thanks, I did actually do this earlier as I wasn’t even able to access the settings of my server. I found the registry said C: so I changed it to C:\ which allowed me to access the settings again, but then found that the libraries were missing.

If there is only C:\ in this key, Plex expects to find its data in a folder named C:\Plex Media Server
Is there perhaps a second folder beside it, and named a little differently, where your old Plex data may be slumbering?

There is a C:\Plex Media Server folder and that is where the current databases files etc are. There doesn’t seem to be a duplicate Plex folder anywhere.

I finally figured it out! I was able to restore a database backup and this time it worked. The key thing I wasn’t doing was stopping the Plex Updater Service before restoring the database backup. Originally all I thought I had to do was quit the Plex Media Server (which I did) but you also need to stop any processes and services.

Thanks for your help!

OMG! You are amazing! I was having the exact same issue. Stopped the Plex Updater Service, copied my files in. Then I started the service and fired up PMS and I am golden.

Thank you so much for posting this. 2 days i have been working on this…ugh.
