Restore Plex database after windows re-install

Hello everybody! I have just re-installed Windows and now want to restore my Plex library. My video library and application data was always on another hard drive, so that is totally intact. I have installed the media server and set the path to the application data in the bit that says “The path where local application data is stored”. However nothing is updating. I closed and re-opened the plex media server program etc. Can someone advise me where I am going wrong. Sorry for asking what is probably covered often here, but I can’t find the answer anywhere, so any help would be most appreciated. Dan.

first you have to assign same letter of the HDD as was on the older one, then you should copy .db file back into database folder

i usually start first plex server up to the point where ask me to add my library then i close the server, and copy the database file back to the database folder and i open plex and i proceed with the settings by setting up the libraries and necessary settings.

or go through the install/setup and first run page. Once Plex is completely setup and running exit Plex then copy database over.

@Seven_ Thanks for the fast reply. Where can I find this.db file?

C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases this is the file com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

or from your Plex Server you go Settings>Help and you have there download database

@Seven_ I really appreciate the help here but to be honest I’m a little lost. I have lots of .db files in this location. Should I copy them all or is there a specific one?

this is the file you should save com.plexapp.plugins.library.db (you should quit plex media server if you save it manually) or you can save the entire Databases folder

OK thanks a lot, let me try this and see if I can figure it out.
