Maintenance tasks are running anyway with a rather low cpu priority, so they don’t interfere much with other apps.
Except of course for bandwidth and RAM.
So Otto, could he not just build the entire DataBase over on the other machine, and then migrate the database over? This wouldn’t preserve the thumbs and their flags? I thought that there was a way to backup Plex and its DB for reformatting and migratory purposes?
Of course you can backup the database and the whole plex data folder.
But that was not how I understood the question.
I mean, he only wanted to generate thumbnails with it, but, if he just lets it build the database entirely, he could migrate it over to the server, right? it accomplishes the same thing, just with a bit more work. I mean currently, he’s looking at 2 months before the NAS builds the thumbnails, this would certainly shorten that timeline I’d imagine…
