Server Version#: 1.21.0.3616

Guide/Lineup name: No idea what this is
Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: All channels

Hello,

I’m running ubuntu:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release: 20.04
Codename: focal

My channels are showing full reception. https://i.imgur.com/WAsT4CO.png

Every 2-5 seconds, I lose audio for 1-2 seconds. About every 10 seconds, I get a video glitch where part of the screen gets pixelated.

My CPU is sitting around 20% load. memory is at 11%.

I’ve tried UHF channels, and VHF channels. it happens everywhere.

I’ve tried HD and SD. it happens everywhere.

I checked and my hauppage is supported with my operating system

How do I fix this?

Any ideas?

I’ll have to try moving it to a windows PC. My Plex server is headless so I can’t do it there.

I made a video of the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYfVivQeoGg

It doesnt matter what player I use (web, roku, android). It doesnt matter the bandwidth I’m playing at.

I moved the hauppage over to a windows box and used nextpvr to see it. It plays perfectly.

I then double checked signal strength using Hauppage signal strength app. https://i.imgur.com/xV3gTEk.png

Clearly the issue is with Linux, Plex, or the linux drivers for the Hauppage.

I’m experiencing the same issue with Plex on Ubuntu server.

Really don’t want to move over to Windows if I can avoid it!

Is this a known issue?

Does plex not support their product any more?

I have similar issues. I mostly use my LG TV (works fine), but I have similar issues with plex web.

Any help?

Does Plex support their product any more?

bump!

Wait… Plex used to proved support in the past? That’s news to me.

Personally, the recent complete lack of engagement with the user base is troubling to me. That usually signals that something big is coming. Personally, I think the Live TV/DVR will be scrapped at some point because they just can’t make it work. Retired now, but if I was still a senior systems programmer/product manager, that would certainly be my recommendation.

bump!

Same issue with a Synology NAS. Audio kind of does a 1 second fade out then jumps back to 100% every couple seconds. Various other video glitches as well. So far seems to only happen with live TV but not DVR.

Noticed it on Android TV and Plex Web, haven’t tested on other platforms yet. I’ve had other audio issues on Chromecast/Android TV anyways.

Up to date PMS on Shield, running client on Chromecast with Google TV. Both have audio drops every few seconds. However my phone and laptop running plex client do not drop audio AND the hdhomerun app and live channels app on the Chromecast work perfectly. Pretty confident the issue is within Plex client running DVR/Tuner. Also interesting to note the live stream audio drops happen but if I goo back ten seconds on a live stream those audio drops I previously heard in Live are no longer in the stream.

Bump hoping for someone from plex to address

I have same/similar problem with PMS 1.23.0.4497 on Windows Server 2019 and an HDHomerun watching through AppleTV 4K. Server is showing less than 20% usage for both CPU and RAM, audio is direct stream with video transcoding. Only this stream is playing with another stream being recorded from the HDHR. The HDHR app does not have this issue ever so it is for sure PMS. Changing channels and coming back fixes it but it is super annoying when it happens.
It is also weird I can go a week or more and not drop audio and then one evening it will start to drop out every 2-8 minutes. Is starting to impact the WAF and our decision to cut the cord.

I don’t watch live TV a lot, but I am trying it now with the Plex App for windows and every 10 seconds or so the video will pause and the little spinning thing will appear for an instant. Also some artifacts appears on the screen. This is at 94% signal strength. My Plex server CPU usage is less than 20% and this is a direct stream… When I change to convert (Intel Quick Sync) stream crashes.

If I playback something that already recorded it plays fine direct stream or transcoded! I know this stuff was not happening a few weeks ago…

Update: Tried on Fire TV 4k, same skipping issues, tried on Samsung TV in the Plex App, same skipping issues issues., tried on iPhone same skipping issues but does not crash when I change to transcode.

I am on the newest Intel display driver on the Plex Server.

Update; Playing directly from HD Home run no issues at all.

Plex passes the stream through the server with the processes being single threaded which ups the minimum server requirements a bit. Each core needs a passmark Single Thread Rating >1500 available per session to not glitch.

Providing debug logs / system specs would help determine if there is any help to be given.
