Dear Plex Support Team,

I am using the channel list while configuring Live TV & DVR in Plex.

During the setup process I noticed several problems related to the channel lineup provided by Plex. Many channels that are currently broadcast by my brodcaster cannot be found in the available lineup. The list appears to be outdated and does not reflect the current channel offering.

Because of this it is often impossible to correctly map channels coming from my tuner. A large number of channels simply do not exist in the Plex lineup database.

Another issue is that Plex forces the user to assign an EPG entry to every channel. There is no option to leave a channel without EPG data. When a channel is missing from the lineup, the only possible action is to assign an incorrect channel just to continue the configuration. This results in wrong program guides and incorrect channel logos.

In practice this means that:

  • Many currently broadcast channels cannot be matched because they are missing from the lineup.

  • Users are forced to assign incorrect EPG entries.

  • There is no option to keep a channel active without assigning EPG.

It would be very helpful if Plex could:

  1. Update lineups so it reflects the current broadcast channels.

  2. Allow users to leave channels without EPG data.

  3. Provide an option to use a custom EPG source without mandatory lineup mapping.
