Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun Extend HDTC-2US firmware 20220203
I used to use HDHomerun to stream LiveTV, but I’ve had it in a box for about a year since a move. I tried hooking it up today, got the firmware updated, used the HDHomerun app to confirm it could tune channels, all OK.
When I tried to load the Live TV & DVR section in settings, I get an error. It briefly shows the settings page, but then disappears like something crashed. This is the error:
There was an unexpected error

Nothing useful in the logs …
Anyone help ???
Interesting, following the link to https://app.plex.tv appears to have been enough to get me a functional “Live TV & DVR” page, which successfully loads, and now I can try to delete and re-add. I wonder why this behaves differently from loading the Mac player app or going directly to the web page via local IP address.
I’ve looked through so many solutions, but all have been of no help. This did it for me. Thanks a bunch.
THIS needs to be in official Plex documentation. Instead of the message
“There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”
It should say:
“There was an unexpected error during playback. Try visiting this page in the hosted App at http://apps.plex.tv Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”
I mean, I see the benefit when there’s an issue, but in a perfect world I think it’s better to have the system contained. The old XBMC that Plex was based off was specifically for your home library. I know there’s been a lot of moving it to be more like Netflex, but I personally am not a fan of the idea of streaming from my house. I mean I do, on occasion, but mostly that’s when I’m somewhere & I want to share something I own with someone who hasn’t seen it. I would greatly argue that the local version is ONLY for setup & troubleshooting
UPDATE
After using the web hosted app primarily for the last few week I have to say it is definitely NOT intended to be the primary. Menus load a lot slower, sometimes saving doesn’t save properly, this happened a few times when updating the User Icons ironically enough since those aren’t stored locally anyway, once when updating PreRolls, & ⅔ of the time when updating Remote Access settings.
I just tried a bunch of random changes from my family members server setup in a different house & though it happened less than mine (I’m under a Double NAT so I have issues sometimes) it still is less responsive & occasionally fails to save on a server in a home with Gigabit Internet & no double nat, just the default carrier modem/router will default settings except for WiFi SSID
