When watching a live recording programme, once you move away from that channel and then come back the only viewing options you have are start from beginning or live TV, we also need a resume where you left off option. This will become more and more important as more clients get the grid guide.

Thereās an extension to this ā¦ I often start watching something in Live TV thatās recording, but then stop half way through.
I then want to be able to resume later from where I left off once the show has finished recording. But when I open the recorded program from the Plex Home, it doesnāt know that Iād been watching it previously, so I have to (painfully) skip to roughly where I think Iād got to.
yeap this has been there form day one (the one @DavidAndAndrea is describing). It seems like this should be an easy fix but I am not in the code base so no way to really tell. Also similar to this, I donāt understand why you canāt tune to see something currently recording from the āRecordingsā screen. If you for example set something to record and set it to stop recording letās say 30 minutes after the programās scheduled end, then you want to tune to start watching from the beginning while it is recording that extra 30 minutes, it is impossible. The guide has moved on (the time has passed) and nothing shows recording in the guide. The only place to find it is the āRecordingsā screen.

Come on PLEX its been 5 years, i know livetv is of little importance to you but this would make a huge difference to browsing channels in the guide.
A live TV record can be viewed from the beginning and also live.
There should be a third option in this scenario āContinue Where You Left Offā which is neither the beginning or live.
If the user starts watching the show from either point in time; pauses the show, and leaves the player; they cannot later pick up from the point they left off. The options again are āWatch from Beginningā or āWatch Liveā.
Would also be nice to keep the point you watched when the show finished recording and goes into the library
I was just coming on to suggest this. Now the shield is usable in the UK for watching HD recordings we need to be able to be able to continue where left off.
We really need this if the fast forward and rewind functionality is going to be so simplistic. If Plex crashes (seemingly less frequent with the latest update - yay!) or I just want to take a break and come back to my show, it takes several minutes to get back to where I was.
Iāve noticed something resembling this, but it seems to pick a random point to remember (was watching a hockey game from the beginning and it resumed with about 7m left in the 1st period ??).
It appears I can watch something that is currently being recorded but only from the current āliveā point in time. I canāt go back and start watching from the beginning. To go along with this when watching something semi-live like this it should continue to record subsequent future programs until you stop watching.
Depending on your platform, I think this should already be supported. What client are you using to watch live TV?
Iāve tried this on both the web client and iOS. When I go to play it starts from the current time and then when I stop it actually cancels the recording. Maybe Iām doing something wrong?
Works for me using a QNAP NAS as the server, and Mibox or Fire TV as the player. So after something starts recording, go into your program guide, find the show thats recording (itāll have the 3 red recording dots in the top right), select the show and hit watch. Itāll bring up an option for watch from the beginning, or watch live. Atleast thatās how it is with my setup. Having said that, itās a PITA to go to the guide to find my recording to do this and itās unintuitive. You should be able to go to your recordings, select the recording, and then select play live or from the beginning. I donāt know why you have to go all the way through the program guide to do this. Once the gridview rolls out to other players itāll be a little easier I guess, but both options should exist.
Iāve primarily been doing this with the Shield (Android TV), but Iāll try it tonight with iOS and Web. @Taddeusz, what server version are you using?
Iām using the latest public version, 1.13.2.5154.
I get the option to watch from the start on both iOS and Web. Can you confirm your iOS and Web App versions? If you still donāt get the option, can you post some detailed steps of reproduction, please?
Both versions are the latest. I was messing around yesterday and verified that it works. I was starting it from the wrong place. Having a separate issue with recordings ending prematurely so thatās getting in the way too.
Out of curiosity, where were you starting it from that it didnāt work?
