Sorry if this has already been asked, but I haven’t found anything about it. I noticed that my HDHR Extend is doing no transcoding w/ live TV, but rather PMS is doing it instead. Is this going to change in the future, so that the HDHR Extend will do the H264 transcoding, to save CPU usage?
Update: I realized that I needed to change my tuner settings from ‘Original Quality’ to something else. However, PMS still transcodes ‘H264 to H264’ and is using the same amount of CPU as it was prior with ‘Original Quality’ and no HDHR transcoding.
on IOS, we’re forced to do transcode for this release, because of certain edge cases we weren’t able to nail down. We’re hoping to figure out the exact edge cases in which this is needed so more options can be direct playable in the future.
