Live TV trying to start stream at the wrong place in the show

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 5.9.1

Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue when I start watching live tv, but it doesn’t always do it. When I tune to a channel most of the time the seekbar will be in the wrong place. For example, a 1 hour television show maybe about 30 minutes through the broadcast. But when I tune to that channel the seekbar indicates that plex is trying to start streaming only a few minutes in to the broadcast. If I pause the broadcast and fastward/rewind to the correct progress of the show, it’ll start playing. If I don’t ff/rewind it’ll just hang/buffer. I believe this is related to the server as opposed to a client because it does this on my phone (iphone running app version 5.9.1) and it also does this on both of my apple tv 4’s. I have nothing else streaming, all of my equipment at home (plex and apple tv’s) are wired via gigabit ethernet. My plex server is Windows Server 2016, i7 @ 3.4, 8GB RAM and plex/OS is installed on an SSD. I’m also using an HD HomeRun Prime with a motorola cable card provided by my ISP. I hope I’m describing this well, I searched the forums but didn’t see anything related. Lastly, I have the logs from PMS, as soon as I figure out where/how to upload them i’ll add it. Lastly, I’m not sure if it’s related, expected or if I should start a new thread. But the guide often scrolls slow on my ATV 4 (non 4K version), but on my ATV 4 (4K version) I do not experience this. Both ATV’s are 32GB version and wired via GB ethernet. I’m thinking this might be due to the non-4K ATV not being as powerful as the 4K version? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Steven

No one has experienced this?

bump :-/ I guess i’m the only one experiencing this

Well… it’s possible your seeing what I am (and others) where live streams don’t reliably start on IOS gear (AppleTV, iPhone, etc). Currently when a live channel doesn’t startup (sits there buffering), I jog it to start by either rewinding it a bit (haven’t thought to check that it’s behind), or toggling playback of “original” quality while it’s hung.

I just got my HD HomeRun over the holidays and it’s always been like this for me. Not sure if it was working fine previously, but there are random threads about it. After trying every combination of settings I could see (transcode quality, enhanced player, betas, etc), I’m convinced it’s a bug. As it doesn’t happen on every channel and has even been random for channels having the issue. But giving it a nudge time-wise does seem to start the stream every time for me.

Thanks this response. I guess I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one this is happening to. I guess I wasn’t using the most accurate search terms because nothing came up when googling. Anyways, at least I have a “work around” but I can confirm my results are the same as your.
