Tuner Make/Model: Apple TV - Any version
I have been hoping to see changes over the past couple of years on this, and I have watched and just checked the threads, but it appears nothing has been done.
I use an HDHomeRun to stream my local stations to my Plex. The HDHomeRun doesn’t have anything to do with this though, just setting the stage.
Every morning, I get up and try to put on a local OTA channel (5) through my Kitchen Apple TV, and if that was the last channel I used the day before, I just get an endless spiral wait. It seems like the session connection is lost/expired, and the Plex Player does not load that channel. I have to go to another channel and come back to this channel to get it to work. Alternatively, I can kill the Plex app and get in. It seems like an easy fix for the team at Plex, but I am perplexed why it hasn’t been fixed in years. Very annoying.
Next up, I record the morning news from 6-7 a.m., then a new broadcast starts at 7-9 a.m. I do this so that I can wake up and just go back to the beginning of that timeframe to start with the headlines, weather, etc. But here is the problem: Let’s say I start watching at 7:19 and I choose “Live”. That works. But then I can’t scrub back. It usually goes all the way back to 6 a.m., but sometimes it goes back 15 minutes, other times it goes to a random time, like 6:45am and I cannot scrub through the recording at all. Of course, then you think “OK, let’s start this from the beginning.” Well, that would be nice, but it goes back to the previous time (6 a.m.), and then I can never recover and then start skipping through commercials, etc.
Honestly, these are basic DVR functions. I pay for my premium access to Plex, but I’m losing faith these days. I see all of this reported for years now, and I have experienced it on multiple set-ups where my server was on Windows, Linux, and even my old Nvidia Shield. So I take it is an Apple TV issue.
Can anyone share improvements in the future to fix this?
