LiveTV transcoding error

Server Version#: 1.43.1.10611
Player Version#: 4.159.0 (web)
Tuner Make/Model: WinTV DualHD (through TVHeadend and integrated HDHomeRun emulation)
Guide/Lineup name: SFR (I guess, does not really matter)
Using XMLTV?: Yes
Channel number/Name: 1 - TF1

When playing a “normal” H264 channel from DVB-T2 in France, I get transcoding errors and the session stops. I also tried using software decoding and encoding, to no avail.

I also tried playing a 4K HEVC channel, but I get more or less the same issue.

Interestingly, when using the desktop client (Windows), or mobile app (Android), if it does not trigger transcoding, I can see the channel just fine.

Plex Media Server Logs_2026-04-26_17-15-33.zip (3.9 MB)

Looking at the logs it says that “Direct Play is Disabled”. There is something that will not allow Plex to direct play on your device. It looks like it cannot play the audio stream and so it needs to transcode it.

I have also found “Could not write header (incorrect codec parameters ?): Invalid argument” as well as "transcodeHwDecodingTitle=“Intel ()” transcodeHwEncodingTitle=“Intel (VA API)”

To me that may be an issue that I do not know how to fix. There isn’t a codec for decoding the stream so I don’t know if you have to re-download a codec file or not. Maybe someone else who has more knowledge can shine a light on this one.

I’m not too shocked at the transcoding decision: audio is AC-3 by spec (but why did they choose that, anyway…) so it’s expected that Firefox is not able to decode it. But then, why does it fail?

Thank you for trying!
