Loading Times on Android TV

My Plex app keeps on halting the playback on my android sony bravia TV.
What can I do ?

What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard?

Specifically:

  • Is the stream listed as local, remote or indirect?
  • Any transcoding (details)?

Option 1

  1. Open https://app.plex.tv/desktop
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Navigate to [Server Name] > Status > Dashboard

  2. Click on the Activities icon
  3. Select Dashboard

Take into consideration that for whatever reason now it’s streaming from my mac however I nee to stream from my LAN HD

That doesn’t look bad:

  • the stream is local
  • low bitrate of ~3 Mbps
  • video/subtitle direct stream (no transcoding)

Could be some oddity about the encode of the video (Plex thinking it’s supported but some aspects might cause trouble).

Two tests you could do:

  1. test if you can play the video natively on your tv (e.g. by copying it on an USB thumb drive or network share accessible to the TV and playing it with Sony‘s own video player
  2. configure the Plex Android TV app to play media in a different quality to see if it’ll play that fine

Plex will always stream from your Plex Media Server to the client. The client cannot play media right off a network drive without the server.
