Local and Remote Streaming stops when adding media

When getting metadata for a batch of TV shows or Movies, all clients lose their connection for a few minutes?

I added a batch of movies, (45), and while the system was fetching metadata for those titles all connections dropped and the server was unavailable to clients until the indexing finished. Once the indexing finished, all returned to normal. I checked remote access and it was green, checked plex status site and all was green.

I am able to repeat this everytime I add a new batch of movies or shows. This has only begun after the last update to version 1.19.4.2935.

Appreciate any insight.

This is still happening. Can’t access my server at all until it finishes getting metadata for everything. Anyone else having this problem?

I tried clearing the caches, but no luck.

I have this happen and its probably disc thrashing, reading/writing lots of data to the drive the media is also on OR the disc PMS is on. I"ve really never figured it out and tried to mitigate it by changing where my DL’s get unpacked and processed, spinning drives, SSDs, on my NAS, but … generally I just ignore it now and it happens less often – which I also can’t figure out, because there’s no consistency to it anymore.

There are other threads discussing the issue from the past so its an issue that has been around for awhile, on different OS’s and people who use local drives, NAS drive, etc. etc.
