I love Plex. Setup an HTPC and have hundreds of TV/Movies on server and thousands of Music files.
I live in country near Raleigh, NC the capital of NC. I am in a hole so often cannot receive Local Channels. I don’t spend much time on TV channels, but would like to be able to consistently see morning news, weather and traffic. I like WRAL (Raleigh, NC) and can get it occasionally by air. I can see a Charlotte station on Plex, but it is 150 miles away and does not help with local events, traffic or weather.
Is there a way to get WRAL through Plex? I know they have an app that can be downloaded. I could do this on iphone, but I normally only use iphone for a phone. I want to watch on smart tv.
Is there a way to request Plex add WRAL? I would think they could add tv stations in the state Capital City.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks.
For those rare occasions where I want to see local content I often use YouTube. For example, https://www.youtube.com/c/WRAL5. Yeah, it’d be nice if YouTube integrated into Plex in some fashion… Well, well… lookie here https://bestappsbuzz.com/plex/youtube-on-plex/…
Hmmm… Tried installing this WebTools then but was unable to. It said:
Step 3: After that, click on WebTools from the list of plugins installed.
Step 4: Now, you will see a URL. Just type the same on the web browser – for instance, http://10.1.11.2:88600.
But when I clicked on WebTools nothing happened. There is a little gear thing that appears on WebTools but when I click that it only lets me set the port for HTTP and HTTPS: access. Going to https://:33443 presents me with a login page and tells me to use my Plex credentials. Then I see
But that never completes.
I see @ChuckPa’s name at WTInstaller/bin/synology/Release_Notes.txt at master · ukdtom/WTInstaller · GitHub though that seems to be pretty old. Indeed, that installer will not even install on DMS 7.x. Maybe Chuck can help me…
Now that Locast is no longer with us the only Plex official way is a Tuner(HdHomerun preferred) and medium sized directional antenna.
If the channel broadcasts via the web or on youtube then you can use streamlink to pipe the video into TVheadend. You can then set up TVheadend with Plex.
streamlink → TVheadend → xTeVe → Plex.
Complicated I know but it is definitely possible,
I am a novice at this, but it appears to me that TVheadend is a program and computer card to view local stations through your tv antenna. If this is correct, then my problem is I am located in the country in a low area and even with two antennas and signal amplifiers on top of home, I cannot pickup local channels. Occasionally, when the weather is right, I can see a little, but mostly they will not come in.
I would love to see a few minutes of local news, weather and traffic in the morning. I have access to WSOC in Charlotte which is 150 miles away. I want plex to add a station in Raleigh which is the capital of North Carolina. There are several stations here, but I can’t get to them without cable. They have apps but I have been unable to load on my TV. Would love to have that access through Plex.
Thanks
