Because as we seen recently its enough for an outage can cause your entire server to go down and when their plex server reliability is less reiable then the individual server and because single point of failure is in general a terrible design unless you trying to lock-in somebody.
I suggest to move all authetication and log-in fuction back to the user plex server and keep only the minimun necessary in on plex inc server.
Q 4 you:
What if you have multiple servers shared towards you, and you change your password?
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
