Long term roadmap for Plex

I like Plex, I really do. But Plex is free (OK, donationware) and I tend to worry about how motivated the fabulous team behind this wonderful application is to continue rolling out enhancements, fixing bugs, etc. I recently made a small contribution to the team and really hope they went out and got themselves a few boxes of beer, and I am happy to continue doing whatever little I can to keep the team motivated. However, what I contribute does not pay rent, buy stocks, or put food on the table.

Hence my question: What is the long-term roadmap for Plex?

it’s my experience that the plex dev team are all highly motivated and very devoted to the continued development of plex, largely because they are all people who use it on a daily basis. the beauty of open source projects like this is that the project is literally built by the community, every user is a potential developer, and as plex’s user base continues to grow, so does the talent pool contributing to it. it’s continued evolution is not dependent on any one individual’s interest or circumstances.

free is a good thing, im much more concerned about commercial software that some company can decide to pull the plug on if their accountants tell them its not profitable enough.

Motivation is definitely not something we lack.
