Looking to "Build" a Plex Server; Intel Nuc = NAS?

Heyo, so I have decided to “build” (Using that term loosely) a dedicated Plex Server for all my media. It should be able to handle ~3-5 streams at 720p 2mbs. I have found some parts but my question is if these support NAS Drives.
I plan on getting an Intel NUC7i7BNH with 2x8gb if RAM. I’m pretty sure that the NUC does support NAS but just making sure that it does, as the server will be running 24/7 for both my family and friends.
(Clarification: NAS = 3.5inch 6tb Internal NAS Drive that I will turn into an external drive and plug into the NUC)
Thanks,
~~David

An external drive is not a NAS. The N stands for ‘Network’. So only a drive which has a network port qualifies as a NAS.

But that’s just an aside remark.
You can attach drives directly to the NUC per USB connection. Which means your drive must be in a casing with a SATA -> USB converter.
For a moderately-sized collection this might be enough.

If you plan on expanding later, I recommend to add a real NAS for media storage. Since the Plex server is running on the NUC, there is no need for a particular fast CPU in the NAS device. Then connect the NAS per Ethernet to the NUC.

Oh, ok. Thanks!
