Mac Mini M1, Plex Server taking up all internal storage

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#:
macOS Version: Ventura 13.4

I have been using Plex Media Server on my base model Mac Mini M1 (8GB RAM, 256GB storage), and I find that my Mac’s internal storage is regularly clogged up by what appears to be Plex storing some kind of caching data. I’ve let the server run for so long, it’s gotten to the point that my internal storage is completely full, with only a few megabytes to spare.

The location of the data is in: (user)/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost

Within “localhost” is a number of folders called “0”, “1”, “2”, …and so on. Each folder contains hundreds of “.bundle” files, ranging in size from several KB to dozens of MB, each with random text and numbers as their names.

Is there a way to redirect this caching to an external USB drive? And can I safely delete all of this data contained within “localhost”?

Yes.
