I’m trying to move my Plex library and associated data from a relatively small boot drive on my MacMini Server to an external drive (hosted on the same system) with much more capacity. I’ve found multiple articles about how to configure this change in Windows and Linux, but I’ve had no luck when searching for something specifically useful for MacOS. All the articles I’ve found so far point to how you can move from a Mac to another system, or NAS. Can someone point me to the right place for the correct procedure to move the data to another drive and setup the correct links? Or, perhaps explain how I might accomplish this feat?
It would sure be nice if this were simply a configurable feature within PMS.
Unfortunately, unless I’m missing something, that article assumes I’m replacing my hard drive. That won’t work on a 2018 MacMini because the SSD is hardwired into the box. It is not upgradable. The only thing I can do is move the metadata library to a second, eternally-attached drive, and somehow setup the links so that Plex can still find and update the library.
To be clear, my media files are on a large multi-terabyte array. That is not the problem. My issue is to make sure I don’t fill my boot drive with library Plex generates to track all my media. That is what I’m wanting to move to a drive other than the boot drive on my macmini.
