Maintaining Mirrored Plex Servers or Backup/Copy Plex Database

Server Version#: Version 1.24.0.4930
Player Version#: Version 1.34.1.2590-74ea7099

I have so much content (+/-30 tb) I have to just copy content between two servers as I have not found a backup solution viable. I do all the metadata editing, playlists, art corrections on Server 1 (S1), and just let Plex handle all but the worst errors on Server 2 (S2). It would be great to occasionally copy over the Plex database and images so they match completely and all my changes don’t risk loss.

is there a question somewhere?

mirrored plex servers is not something that is supported.

it is possible to clone or use a backup database, copy it to a different server, but that would be a one time deal, plex does not support any type of sync between servers.

Understood. Just thought with all the contractors and Plex Pro Week experts somebody might offer up something.

the main thing to ask yourself, is why are you running 2 servers with the same content.

if you are trying to load balance or spread out content on different hardware, then just use the 2 servers as separate.

you can have multiple servers/libraries pinned to your clients, the main thing you would lose is cross server playlists/collections/etc.

for example, you could have one server with only movies, and the other server with only tv shows.

or a separate music server.

when you search, it should search across all available servers, so you can still find whatever content regardless of which server it is stored on.

that, or stop wasting your time and effort on 2 servers, and build a big enough server for the content you have/intend to collect.
