Server Version#:1.40.1.8173
Player Version#:5.78.2
In the new Player App 5.78.2 (Samsung QN90C) the setting “Force Direct Play” per Movie is not permanent! If I exit the App and then restart, this setting was lost. I would like to see this fixed!
By the way: Where is this parameter actually stored?
If you want the saved default to be enabled then you need to enable in the main app settings found at the bottom of the home screen sidebar. This screenshot is from HTPC but the Samsung app should be the same
Thanks for the quick reply. If I set it up the way you recommend, then all of my 2000+ videos will be permanently set to “force direct play”, which of course I don’t want. There are only a few videos that I need it for. Is there any other way?
Please remember: A Plex user will never want to do without DTS and DIVX transcoding because many smart TVs no longer support it. “Force direct play” could then be used for the codecs that the Plex-TV app does not support but the TV does. On my Samsung TV these are mainly: AV1, VP9 (in the wrong container) and the WEBM container.
When I play a video with DTS sound using the settings you recommend, I have no sound.
Thanks Big Wheel.
I would be happy to see a possibility for a “Force Direct Play” per video soon.
But if you say: There is no space in TV-Apps to save a information per video, then why can I e.g. save a “forced subtitle” on/off permanently per video in the TV-App?
Anyway, if Plex can help in this case, then you make me and a lot of people very happy!
Subititle selection is an option on a media item and is saved on a the server so the subtitle you select is enabled on any Plex player you use. “Force Direct Play” is a player specific setting that the server has no control over.
