Make music social at a party

Create the ability to stream a music party channel.

  • Allow users from your friends list to add songs to the end of the streaming queue from your music library.

  • Make it more social.
    * Allow all friends connected to like your request.
    * Each like moves the song request up the queue.
    * Friends can Thumbs Down or Thumbs Up a playing song.
    * Enough user Thumbs Down will skip the playing song. Make it fun with a fail sound that lets everyone know the request was voted down.

  • When the request queue is empty, fall back to a playlist.

  • Admin user gets the ability to skip a playing song, move songs up or down the queue or pause.

I miss when iTunes had the DJ feature where people could add songs and the other people at the party would see the queue in their iPhones and then upvote songs to move them up the queue.

That is exactly what I would like to get to. I have not found a product that took that space. Apple took it out when they added subscription services. (I’m guessing it was a licensing thing). If you own your music and have it in a Plex library, licensing should not be a problem. TIDAL could be excluded from the social media app if licensing is a problem.

As I’m wandering through existing threads… I’m wondering if this is a duplicate to an already existing feature suggestion:

The requests are similar. This request has a playlist as a lowest priority. The playlist continues to play until there are requests. When the requests are exhausted the playlist resumes wherever it left off. This way there is always music playing even when no requests have been made or they run out.
