Here’s a suggestion for resolving the interface update disaster that should work on ANY device and keep from losing a flood of pissed-off users.
Here’s a suggestion for the PLEX team from one developer to another:
One word: CSS!
You can make the interface customizable for ANY need! What if users could just drag and drop sections of the interface where they want them (or disable them altogether)?
THAT would be an improvement to the interface. This feature would have to include the ability to remove the ad supported crap on the home page that’s pushed into our faces as well!
There are very few devices these days that don’t support at least CSS 3.x.
I’m a Linux developer, and I know that Android is scaled-down Linux, IOS is scaled-down BSD Unix, most TV’s and most devices in general run scaled-down versions of Linux. CSS 3.x has been around for a long time, and the fact that browsers run on ROKU means ROKU also supports CSS 3.x. You can script with Javascript or whatever scripting languages you wish.
CSS frames and drag and drop functionality should be easy on virtually ANY device, and then all you need to do is provide the various objects for users to choose from and move around where they want!
