Making opening theme.mp3 for tv shows

Hello .I joined as a plex lifetime subscriber couple months ago. Does plex not allow the file theme.mp3 for the TV Shows like I did years ago? 30 second file done. Place in folder. ‘Local Media Assets’ box checked. Do I have to go to personal media for plex to identify? Refreshed media. Read the forms from years past. 92 TV Shows but, 2 won’t play the theme song? The media data recognizes them though. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

Works like a charm on my setup.
Just make sure it’s an actual mp3 file (not just named as such) and you store it in the show’s top-level folder.

From what I remember this should work with some of the legacy agents – it certainly works with a tv-show library using the Plex TV Series agent.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have a library with a theme.mp3 that used to play with the legacy agents, but it no longer plays since I upgraded to the new agent. Does “Personal Media Shows” versus “Local Assets TV” order matter?

Those server-wide agent settings don’t apply to the current-generation Plex agents (e.g. Plex Movie, Plex TV Series, Plex Music). Those are entirely configured per library ( > Manage Library > Edit...Advanced).

For what it’s worth, I have checked the Use local assets option – I’m not 100% this is required.
If you’re only adding the theme.mp3 after you had already added the show, make sure to refresh the show’s metadata for Plex to pick it up.

I have “Use Local Assets” checked as well. But the fix seems to be refreshing metadata. It now plays, even though theme.mp3 was present before, during and after the upgrade to the new agents. Explicit refresh seems to have fixed it for me. Thanks @tom80H
