Manually adding media and customisable matching criteria

I know this topic has been discussed before but I am not sure it has been requested yet as a feature.

 

I would like to request a couple of features:

 

- Ability to manually add media that does not conform to the matching engine's naming standards

- Ability to customise the matching selection criteria per section for automatic media detection e.g. by adding our own RegEx expressions (or a similar method)

 

I have a situation where I would ideally like to keep the filenames I have for a TV show, which are conformed to a standard, rather than change them to what is required by Plex.

 

An example format is:

 

tvseriesname-sep.mkv e.g. madmen-301.mkv (Season 3 - Episode 1 of Mad Men)

 

I think this would make Plex a lot more flexible in terms of the media it can automatically detect.

 

What do people think?

Personally I think it creates more problems in the long term and is much easier to just stick to one supported naming standard.

eg. People  would then start posting why their custom regex is not working as they intended.

Is there a particular reason you do  not want to follow the plex naming standard ?

There plenty  of tools available to "automatically"  rename your files in seconds.

I have another application also looking at the files which if I renamed them would delink them.
