Manually Stop A DVR Recording?

I have set several TV shows to record. Is it possible to manually stop a recording for an episode that is being recorded according to the DVR schedule? For example, if the scheduled recordings are taking up all three of my HDHR tuners and I want to watch something different on live TV, I want to choose to specifically stop one of the three active recordings so I can free a tuner up. I want to ensure I stop the show I least care about keeping. If I choose the show, the popup provides a “Cancel Recording” button. But that button actually seems to cancel the recording of that show altogether (i.e., it removes it from the DVR scheduled recordings) rather than just cancelling the recording of that one episode.

I think you might be clicking on the wrong item? In the web app at least, there is the right hand “Recording Priority” list and then the Recording Schedule grid on the left (or Agenda view if you have it set that way). If you click on a show in the Recording Priority list and hit cancel, then yes, it will remove that show from your DVR schedule and not record it anymore. If you click on the show in the Recording Schedule grid (the actively recording show, with the little red circle) and hit cancel, it will stop recording and keep everything it had recorded up to that point but not remove it from your DVR schedule. You “may” have to have the ‘Allow Partial Airings’ option turned on for this to work correctly…I’m not sure. In all honesty, I’ve only ever cancelled 1 recording (the Olympics…it had been recording for hours and I realized there was no way I was going to watch that much curling) but it worked fine.

Yes, I’m using the web client (Version 3.39.3). My server is running on Windows 10 and is Version 1.11.3.4803. I updated to this latest version this past Monday. It shows that there are no updates and that this version is up to date.

The behavior I’m seeing is different from what you’re describing (which is what I would expect). If I click on a show on an episode in the recording calendar (i.e., NOT the right hand priority list) currently being recorded (one with a red dot) it gives me the option to “Modify” or “Close”. If I click “Close”, it simply closes the dialog popup as you’d expect. If you click “Modify”, then the “basic” DVR recordings dialog opens. This dialog provides the options for “Airings”, storage “Location”, etc. There is the “Show Advanced” link on the bottom left which takes you to the options for channels, number of episodes to keep, when to delete, etc. The only buttons then are “Cancel Recording” or “Save”. So, clicking on the schedule or clicking on the priority list gives the same dialogs.

Nevermind… Today I tried watching a show via the web app and I receive a popup telling me that all three tuners where busy. It displayed the three shows that were on the tuners and asked me which of the three tuners I wanted to stop the recording to use for the new show I was requesting. It also let me cancel the request and let it continue as it was w/o making a change to what was currently on each tuner.

Well, nevermind the nevermind…

I still would like to select a particular active recording instance and stop it without cancelling the entire series recording setup. There are a few reasons, mostly maintenance. There ought to be a straightforward means to click on a show or movie in the Recording Schedule and say “stop recording this episode”. Wish list item?
