Manually uploaded posters

Hey all.
Does manually uploading our own poster art through PlexWeb maintain the aspect ratio of the poster or are they scaled down?

Maintaining aspect ratio and scaling down are different things.

Plex will never stretch your custom pictures.
It may crop them, if they deviate from the usual aspect ratio of e.g. 1:1.5 for movie posters or 1:1 for album art.

The full resolution file will be stored in the Plex data folder, however it will be rarely sent to clients in its full resolution.
If e.g. the client wants to show a grid of 8x5 posters on a 1920x1080 px screen, it doesn’t make sense to send 40 posters in their full resolution. So the client is asking the server for scaled-down versions of those posters.

If you have custom posters, always store them suitably named beside your media files.
Don’t use the “upload” method in Plex.
