I spent some time when the profiles was introduced to mark all the movies I’ve watched over the years (they were stored on trakt already).
The number was over 1k movies watched.
Recently I’ve noticed this number on the profile is around 800. I didn’t think much of it, but now I’m realizing that maybe they aren’t properly synced anymore.
And I just came across a movie (I posted a review for it) which I’m assuming is exhibiting this issue.
See the screenshot. As you can see, the movie is properly marked as watched on my server, but not in the activity. A friend of mine has marked it properly so it’s not an issue with the movie entry itself. It seems related to my account.
If I unwatch it and mark it again, there is no difference.
I could be wrong or misunderstanding your issue but I suspect what you are talking about is played status/history which is not to be confused with watched status.
Marking something as “watched” no longer creates a “played” entry for it, something actually has to be watched within the Video played threshold for it to register as actually played. This change came in server version 1.40.0.7998 → Plex Media Server - #612 by drzoidberg33.

Thanks. Yes I was oogling that discussion when it took place, but I didn’t exactly connect the dots to this problem.
I think you have a point, and it probably explains why it doesn’t show up in the activity then.
However, the amount of movies I’ve watched on my profile dropped by like half. Probably because of this change. It really seems like at least the amount of movies watched should be accounted for here. How else are we going to display stuff that we watched before using Plex? Or stuff that is not available anywhere anymore?
Furthermore, I have a friend that also marked stuff in this way, and she have all movies accounted for. She has barely watched any of those movies on Plex itself. So what is different?
@drzoidberg33 You were in the original discussion about this change. Can you clarify what is going on here? Why can my friend mark movies without having seen them on Plex, and having them show on her profile, but I can’t?
EDIT: Actually something must be wrong because I can mark plenty of movies and shows that I have never watched on Plex and they show up both in activity and on my profile. It’s just some movies seems “blacklisted” from appearing on my profile for a lack of a better term.
