I often watch musical shows which last for 4-5 hours. If I stop at 90% or more, Plex will mark the file as "watched", although there's still up to 30 minutes remaining. Could you please change it to mark as watched with 90% finished and only 5-10 minutes left over?
Okay, so this is actually a feature that we're hating in our household. We have watched so many movies and tv shows when we had to stop them for some reason really close to the end. Then, when we go back to finish watching it, we have to fast forward to where we were. This is really annoying when you need to go and watch the last couple of minutes of a tv show, or the last 10 minutes of a movie.
Is there anyway to turn this feature off so that a video is only marked as watched when it has been completely watched? If I stop it early and want to have it marked as watched, I can quickly hit the info button and select "mark as watched". However, there isn't an option for the opposite. Honestly, I don't understand the logic of this function.

You know, what you want it to do it exactly what it did in the beginning. Then a lot of people complained that they would have to watch the credits before the movie was marked as watched.
So we changed it, and with change there are always others that don't like those changes.
BTW the PMS does this automatically with the new timeline. When a movie has been played for more than 90% it will be marked as watched.
I'm not aware of any way to stop that behavior, but I can ask if it's possible.
Orca, thanks I'd appreciate it. Even if it was somehow an option on the server end. I understand how some people don't watch the credits (I will typically watch them all the way through). However, my thing is that with a 2 hour movie, the credits would have to be 12 minutes long to make sure that if I stopped the movie early, I'd be able to resume it. I also watch a lot of older movies that have credits that might run a minute or two.
I just feel that 10% remaining is quite a bit of video to not watch, but have it be considered watched.
Thanks again, and I appreciate you inquiring about it.
Hi there,
I’ll start by apologizing about reopening an old topic, but I’m kinda hitting the same problem.
there are 2 main cases where this issue (file too soon automagically marked as watched) is observed:
- Really long videos, I have a reasonable collection of concatenated video-courses, these can easily pass the 24h mark lengthwise, and here I’m backing on the plex-feature that the last position in a file is stored. Unfortunately, when passing the 90% mark, the file is marked as watched and the progress is reset while having 2, 3 or more hours of video left, which is not the desired behaviour. This is triggered after pausing for an extended period of time or exiting the viewer application.
- Moderately short videos, I have a set of shorter videos (eg. podcasts) without any credit sequence, and crossing the 90% mark also triggers the watched status and removes progress, when there still is content to be seen.
Since this is a special kind of content, which I have marked into the Other Videos
-library-group, could this become a feature, (eg, checkmark or a flag in the configuration.xml) to omit this behaviour, or to force 100% to automatically toggle as watched?
Daniel
Edit: This seems to be resolved (for me) for relatively short video’s only get marked watched when I’ve actually watched them (on an android device). So when I’m called during the last minute of my show, I can continue instead of skipping over the parts I’ve seen already.
