Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563
Player Version#: 1.63.3.3523-1eff9563
Hey there!
After the last player update, playback is no longer functioning as it should. When i click on any media on my server while using the desktop plex media player application (windows 10) it buffers the video but doesn not play. the looks like it should be playing but nothing happens (no video or sound) until i move the slider or use the fast forward 30 seconds button.
I have tried finding any solution to this online but have not been able to.
This applies much more to the server than to the client but never do this unless explicitly asked to do so. It is verbose enough that it causes logs to rotate fast enough that there is a high chance it will lose critical past information.
The support article I linked says to look in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Logs\. Open an explorer window and paste that exact string in there and it will take you to the directory.
thank you for that! i come from a mac background, i didnt know you could paste file paths into file explorer windows like that.
Ive left debugging enabled, but turned off verbose. After turning it off, i closed the program, reopened, recreated the problem, and have attached the log file here.
I see this in the logs which caught my attention. I’m not sure if it’s related to the problem but certainly should be fixed

This means that it is attempting to use AC3 passthrough and the audio device is rejecting the passthrough. You should check your audio device settings and correct them. In particular the audio device, the type of the device, and its supported passthrough types.
Also, how were you controlling this? I don’t see any input commands in the logs which is unusual.
My server is set up on a separate Windows 10 machine that runs 24/7 and is dedicated to plex. I usually watch from my main desktop computer on the same network using the player. I just use my mouse to operate the UI.
My audio is being controlled by a program called VoiceMeter (https://voicemeeter.com/) The application allows me to use multiple audio devices as a single source, in my case two separate bluetooth speakers.
I disabled the program and tested the problem, but it had no impact. I haven’t experienced any audio issues on the user side of Plex.
Sorry, I was thinking this was HTPC (which is controlled via the keyboard/controller) and not Plex for Windows. So there is nothing unusual in this situation. Sorry about that.
Glad that did it. It certainly seemed to be the cause of the issue.
