Creating a media directory within my Library. I choose type and name Movies, then move to the Add Folders dialogue. Go to select my external HD (which is recognized and contains a number of sub-folders, one of which is a folder containing movie content), but it won’t let me drill down to subdirectories to select the appropriate folder. If I instead just specify the parent directory, a scan doesn’t return any content (I’m guessing because it doesn’t scan recursively?).
I was wondering if you have solved this as I am having the same issue on a new Pi 3B+ that I am trying to set up as an RV media server. I can see the drives (USB Thumb drives) but no subdirectories or files on the drives. I finally got the file permissions set to “anyone” but Plex still doesn’t recognize the media files.
Yeah, it was as the link Chuck linked to described.
I hought I’d set up the mount points within my fstab, but unmounting and remounting via command line did the trick. Just need to modify your /etc/fstab in the same way for the appropriate drive to get it to take at startup.
