It would help to have a way to set the tuning priority of stations (similar to the way you can prioritize shows for recording). This would allow you to record using the strongest station available that has a show at a particular time. Currently if the show is available on multiple channels at the same time it tries to tune the lowest channel number which may not be the strongest. If you could set a priority ( based on signal strength/quality) or if you could somehow get it from the tuner when it scans channels, then you could tell it which channel to try to tune to when any show was on more than one channel at the same time. At the same time it could tune to a weaker channel when that was the only one it is available on.
Currently there are two methods to deal with this.
The first is to completely disable the channel in the tuner setup. This way will keep you from recording or watching any shows on the weaker channel. You loose shows that the weaker channel has that the stronger channel does not have, so it is really only good if the channel signal is useless, or a complete duplicate with another channel.
The second way is to tell it to only use one particular channel on a show by show basis, but you would have to do that for every show that has duplicates. When those are old classic shows there are many times different episodes are also on different channels at different times as well. In this case you would not even be able to try to record on the weaker channel.
