Currently in each recording it is possible to limit the recording to a specific channel using the “LIMIT TO CHANNEL” advanced recording option. This feature is limiting for sporting events that are often shown on multiple channels. It would be very useful to be able to specify a channel priority.
For example Chicago Blackhawks games can air on NBCSN (174), WGN (192), or CSN (200). WGN and CSN are local broadcast channels while NBCSN is a national broadcast. In my case I would prefer the local broadcasts (192 or 200) over the national broadcast (174) because when the game is available on a local broadcast the national broadcast is blocked out in my area.
Currently, because 174 is less then 192 and 200 Plex favors the national broadcast (NBCSN - 174).
So, in my case the “LIMIT TO CHANNEL” option is not viable as I want to record on channels 192 or 200 as priority over channel 174.
Here is an example broadcast of the Blackhawks game schedule:
Monday - game broadcasts on channel 192 and 174 (however, 174 is blacked out)
Tuesday - game is broadcast on channel 200 only
Wednesday - game is broadcast on channel 192 only.
