Media server stops running randomly

Server Version#:1.40.1.8227
Player Version#:1.91.0.129-1cd63c1d
Synology NAS DS920+
When I go to access my server (via iPad, TV, app, Firestick - whatever) I will notice that it isn’t showing my libraries. Nothing is available.

I log in to my server dashboard and see the PLex server has stopped running. I restart it - issue solved.

This has happened once a day for about a week now. Different times of day. Nobody is watching anything.

It’s doing my head in! Logs show nothing, except the huge gaps in the log from when it stopped to me restarting it.

A lot of the time it is poorly formatted media and poor file naming/organisation that causes Plex to stop running.

Of course, there are many other reasons the server may be stopping, but you should start by tidying up your file naming and organisation as needed.

See the Plex file naming guidelines here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/#cat-your-media

I also recommend using FileBot to automatically rename and organise your media.

Aside from that, your Plex Media Server logs may help track the issue.

Go to Plex Settings > Server > Troubleshooting and click on Download Logs.

Attach the .zip file to your post, thanks.

You should also make sure the Plex server is up to date. Go to Plex Downloads and download and install the latest server software for your NAS.
