Media Source File Organisation and Renaming.

Plex need the ability to organise your media folders and rename files etc to a fixed pattern optimised for matching that meida up again if its loaded onto a new plex server.

Computers dont last forever and i have moved my plex platform from Windows PC to Raspberry Pi to Linux to NAS and back to Linux several times.

Everytime I move my media drive to a new platform i am faced with many many movies that either match incorrectly or dont match at all causing me hours of manual matching. I know it is possible to back up your plex database but this doesn’t always seem “easy” when different file systems result in media paths always being different.

If an option could be set in plex media server to “organise” your media folder then the system could rename and organise the media files to “best practises” and then the next time im faced with the daunting task of rebuilding my plex server at least i know theres likeley to be few (if any) incorrect matches.

The added benefit of having all your media named consistently is also very appealing.

I know that there are tools such as filebot etc that can do this but it seems crazy that Plex once a match has been made cant rename the files to an optimal format. Why should i use a 3rd party tool to rename the file causing the file to be re discovered by plex and reindexed all over again.
