Metadata agents for exported XBMC library

@supra66:
The XBMCnfo agents should work with plex’ windows version. You don’t need to pay for the plex pass for it to work. Like Keitaro Blade said, it is partly broken at the moment, but we hope it gets fixed by the plex devs at a later time. TVShows season posters and episode thumbnails don’t work at the moment, otherwise it should be fine.

Please make sure you have the agents installed correctly. They must be visible in plex settings / server / agents section. You have to configure them to your liking there and you have to select the correct agent in the third (advanced) step when creating a new library. If you skip that, the agents will not be used. All art needs to be jpg files, for the agents to work.

If it still fails, please report again and supply a debug log of the agents. You need to enable this in the agents settings in this case.

Hi guys many thanks for your answers. But which agent you mean when you talk about “XBMCnfo agents”? The agent in this post is for iOS and which should I use under Windows?

The agent is working on all plateform… The screen that you see is from MacOS (not iOS) but it’s for information only. It works on Linux, Windows, NAS,…

Just the folder where to put it is different in each OS. Under Windows is C:\Users"USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins

@supra66 The screenshots are from OSX but the agents themselves are OS independent. It is just the main code from Plex that is OS dependent. All the agents are written in Python and rely on the main Plex code to deal with the OS. Does that make sense?

Read the posts since 14 november and you will discover that the problem is from plex 1.2.8, the problem don’t come from the agent but directly from Plex, everybody are waiting that the problem is solved because all third party agent are affected. At this time the only solution is to revert back to Plex 1.2.7

Yes the new server is indeed the problem. I could not get my TV Show Seasons art to work at all with latest. Reverted back to 1.2.7 and it worked fine… Hope the devs can fix this soon.

Question for anyone…i have one show i need to use nfo’s for because tvdb keeps delisting it (naruto kai)…doesn’t seem to work unless the whole library has it as the default (nfo reader)…any help to force it to use it

Also i’m on the correct 1.2.7 version

In my experience you need a new library to use it correctly.

@mcrommert: It is possible to have the library set to TheTVDB and use the agent for some shows only. It is not easy to find and use however.

First you set the library to TheTVDB and let it scan all shows.
You then click on the single show, you want to change.
In the Overview, where the seasons are shown, you click on the three dots on the left and choose match.
Then choose the little triangle on “Auto Match” and choose the XBMCnfoTVImporter.
The scan will run and seem to fail.
Now you click the three dots again and select unmatch and it will then pull the correct info from your local files.

The info should stay even after you refresh the whole library to scan for other new series. There is always a chance, it will break in the future however.

@SlrG for some reason that doesn’t seem to work for me…that would be great though…the pictures load but the metadata from the nfo’s doesn’t load

I’ve had luck with scanning the regular tvdb stuff and then switching the library’s agent to nfo…then adding the nfo shows

Once they scan and pull you change back to tvdb and it will continue to pull

Hmm… Okay sorry it doesn’t work. Only gave it a quick try and thought it would. I’m glad you found a solution that is working for you .

Where can I download version 1.27 for Synology NAS?

Plex stopped providing links for the older versions to download. For the moment it is still possible to acquire the old files by modifying the links from the newest version with the info from the older one. For Synology it should be this two links:

https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.2.7.2987-1bef33a/PlexMediaServer-1.2.7.2987-1bef33a-x86.spk

Did somebody got feedback from a dev or somebody?

The Plex staff have recently acknowledged this issue and say they’re looking into it.

If you can wait, continue to use Plex 1.2.7 the problem appear after this version.

If you wich to know all the story you can begin to read since november in this thread.

Where have they acknowledged it? I can’t seem to find the post.

it was not on this thread, don’t remember wich one because a lot of external agent like this one has same problem…

Ok just because I’ve looked around a lot and I don’t think a plex dev has actually said they would fix it.

I’m not using 1.2.7. I’m on the latest public release, but I have been able to get this to work for TV Shows. I wanted to start a separate library for kids shows because a lot of the metadata on TVDB doesn’t support the multiepisode files.

Anyway . . . my question is… Everything seems to work fine except the season posters. Is this because I’m not on 1.2.7? I tried disabling the art from xbmcnfo agent so it would then pull from local media assets, but that didn’t seem to work. I’ve moved the season poster to the season folder, named it “poster”, named is “seasonXX”, etc. No go.

Is there a trick I am missing? Thanks for the help.

No trick. There is a bug in newer plex versions that breaks season posters and episode thumbnails. The latest working version is 1.2.7. So you either have to use the older version and have it fully working or use the newer ones and live without those two things until the bug is fixed.

I cannot believe I spent so much time on this. In fact I hit the end of my patience and finally posted in the forums this exact question at https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/254990/using-nfo-files-and-local-media-for-fitness-dvds. I’ll be looking forward to this fix.
