Metadata agents for exported XBMC library

Is Guillaume still around?

Yes, but I’m not maintaining this anymore. SlrG seems to have stopped too.
All the code is on Github, so if people find bugs, they can file issues there, and hopefully, someone can try to fix those by submitting a Pull Request.

A good example would be the bug where collections and tags are imported into the same field (Plex collections). Someone even suggested a fix (jbenet, Nov’18), so it might be easy to have this fixed…

Cheers.

OK on that…
So far it is working just fine for me…
As long as Plex will let this be, I will use…

I use TMM, and prefer to curate my own medtadata… Most of the time TMM downloads automatically what I want… Often enough there are situation where I have to manually add and update stuff (no TMDB or IMDB records for content)

Would be nice if Plex would read NFO files.

Yep. @elan this makes a good case for Plex to now implement NFO files. Lots and lots of Opera and concerts and art films have no database listing.

I 100% agree… Code is already written, they just need to recode in whatever language they are writing in. All of the other metadata stuff is already there (posters, fanart, etc)

Hi. Where can find a tutorial to use it?

Hi, i used XMBC library for Movies and it works great, but with the TV Show one i can’t import the artworks. Any suggestions? In both i used TMM to get the info.

Thanks!

I can’t seem to get any actors image thumbnails using this plugin.

Can you give more details as to how your tv show art is named. If you follow the plex standards then your best bet is to use the local media plugin as well as the XBMC for TV Shows.

Do you store the actor images locally, or do you have the image url in the file? If the former then you need to have setup a webserver to provide access to the files and then configure the XMBC agent to allow it to work out the correct url to access it. This is because PLEX doesn’t store the actor images in the way it does for other images but just uses an external url.

I saw this in the settings under agents. But I didn’t understand it. I have my data stored with the files on my 2nd internal hard drive. I guess I would call it locally. I tried different settings in the agent section but it did nothing, just need to learn more about this .

What you need to do first is make the files available through a web server. How you do that depends on what OS you are using. The local files can either be along side the media files as done by Kodi in a .actors directory or all actor images in a single directory.

It is however easier to not store the images locally but have the url to the original source. The only advantage of going the local route is if you want to add images that are not available via an existing url or you want to edit/replace those that are.

You should also consider that PLEX only stores one image url for an actor and this one is used wherever the actor is displayed by PLEX. So if an actor is in multiple shows then the same image will be shown in all cases.

The two setting you need to look at for actor images are:

actor thumb location
This can be set to link, local or global. Link is where the nfo file has the url to an actors image, local is where the image is stored in the directory of the film or show, and global is where there is a single directory for all actor images.

and path to tv show library or global actor folder
This only needs to be set if actor thumb location is not set to link. It should be set to the common part of the url for actor images. For example http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/tvshow/ or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/media/films/ or in the case of a single global actors directory http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/actors/. In all these cases your actor images have to be available from a web server that you have set up. The actual setting will depend on the server address/name and directory names you have used yourself.
You could if you use the global option and have the images in a single directory copy the images to a cloud service or a web hosting service which would remove the need for you to setup your own web server. In theory you could do the same with the local option but copying the directory structure and any future updating would be a pain.

Wow lots of info. Thanks for taking the time to help . I have windows 10 as my os . Do u have any pics of this stuff to help me, just confused now and also I noticed last night is fast forward and rewind in a video doesn’t work that well through plex but works on my nfs server folder through kodi. I use plex through kodi and it is slow fast forward and rewind. I think because it is streaming through Firefox, not sure if u know about that too. Also with the actor folders I have the images stored in the same folders as the videos on my hard drive also for movies I have them on a external one. Not sure if I know how to do what u mentioned in the agent settings. Just don’t know much about another web server stuff. Also I stream using WiFi to my tv from the pc.

Also what should I put in the agent settings for the path if each folder had a different clip or movie and image of a cast. I did it wrong I just realized I didn’t use the local up address. Do I just put in the main folder name like STUFF and will it look in each separate movie folder where the info is.

Just don’t know to then use local, global or linked. I will try this Tonight after work. Can’t get it to work. Also tried Google Drive to store pics but nothing, also camn’t get my path right for NFS. I think I am understanding more . So I would need a web service like wix. Or I might try a link for where the pics came from originally I think I used jav. Movie that uses data18.com. Then I used that info for kodi. Well I got back the info & set the local ip & path to folder & got my info & got the cast but not the photos in the round circle with unknown role.

Wondering if anyone can help clarify…

  1. Are we supposed to disable the local media assets agent?

  2. Extras - I’m having issues with extras being picked up even though I’m using naming conventions as described by the documentation for local media assets. I see an option for ā€œEnable Trailersā€ in the xbmcinfo agent and nothing else. I do have this checked but doesn’t help.

  3. Trailers show up twice which I saw in this thread that is due to local media assets - would this also prevent the trailer from playing? Plex would show a playback error even though the trailer would work outside of Plex

XBMCnfoMoviesImporter.bundle July 2nd 2019 Plug in no longer functions.

Plex version Version 1.16.1.1291

XBMCnfoMoviesImporter has been function on this machine only change is the update to version 1.16.0.1226

XBMCnfoMoviesImporter no longer shows up as an agent in either the edit section or the search section.

All plug ins have been moved to weird plug ins folders

C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-158e5b199

and XBMCnfoMoviesImporter now exists in its own folder

C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-78232c603

Any word on when we are going to have this plug n functioning again or usable .nfo reader/ scraper?

I’m currently running PMS Version 1.16.0.1226 and use it with all my servers…

Guess I’m not upgrading till we get some direction from Plex as to what they are planning.

So I solved this with a full reinstall of the bundle file the a restart

was that using Plex version Version 1.16.1.1291, and did it keep the folders as they were?
