Metadata fields missing in Plex UI on some TV shows

I’m attempting to set content ratings on my TV library. I’ve recorded several shows from Netflix via Playon. The problem I’m having is some of the shows have no “Content Rating” metadata field in the Edit screen (it’s not that it’s blank, the field doesn’t actually show up in the UI).

I can’t seem to figure out a way to add that metadata field. I’ve used the “analyze” and “refresh metadata” features, but the additional metadata just doesn’t show up on the shows.

Here’s an example of the metadata working properly on Stranger Things.

Plex Media folders are:
Media\TV Shows\Stranger Things\Season 2\Stranger Things - s02e01 Chapter One_ MADMAX.mp4
Media\TV Shows\Stranger Things\Season 2\Stranger Things - s02e02 Chapter Two_ Trick or Treat, Freak.mp4
etc…

When I choose edit on Stranger Things in Plex I get all the metadata fields to edit:

Then for a separate Netflix show, Longmire, it doesn’t work.

Plex Media folders are:
Media\TV Shows\Longmire\Season 6\Longmire - s06e01 The Eagle and the Osprey.mp4
Media\TV Shows\Longmire\Season 6\Longmire - s06e02 Fever.mp4
etc…

When I choose edit on Longmire in Plex all I get is a single “Summary” metadata field to edit:

How do I add the missing metadata fields to the Longmire show?

Take a look at your screen shots again.
in the first one, you are editing the whole series
while in the second one you are only editing Season 6.

The content rating can only be edited at the top level, for the whole series.

Ok, yep that did it!

I was attempting to edit right from the “Recently Added TV” section of the “Home” screen which was giving me the Stranger Things “series” and the Longmire “season”.

If instead, I go to “TV Shows” and start there, I get the all of the Metadata for all the shows.
