I have a Windows-based server that is starting to have trouble with transcoding 4K and other content with high bit-rate features (5.1, HDR, etc). So I’ve been reading about how a Mac mini can easily handle this stuff and I want to migrate. Only the server is on Windows - the video files sit on a NAS so I won’t have to copy terabytes of data to a new server..
The library is quite large and has had a lot of customization done to it - fixing a lot of metadata.
I’ve seen many migration articles all over the web about saving metadata, but they are all “homogenous” migrations (Windows->Windows, etc). How can I install a new instance of PMS on a Mac and migrate all of the metadata from my existing Windows-based server?
