Missing local news show (KPIX 5 news at 6 AM)

Hi everyone,

I’m a newcomer to Plex, and I just purchased a Lifetime Plex Pass so I could use the DVR functionality to record my local news shows. Specifically, I’m interested in recording the 6 AM newscast of my local CBS affiliate station, which is KPIX 5, channel 5.1.

Unfortunately, when I look that show, I can’t find it in the Program Guide. I can find various other KPIX 5 news shows, like the one at 4:30 AM, at noon, at 5 PM, at 6 PM and at 11 PM, but not the one I actually wanted, at 6 AM.

Please note that I have waited for the initial Program Guide download to complete right after I set up my DVR; following that, I went to my DVR settings, and enabled “Enhanced Program Guide”, and waited for that Enhanced Program Guide download to complete.

So I have a couple of questions:

  • How can report this missing information to the right person so this will get fixed?
  • Why can’t I just schedule a recording of a given channel at a specific time interval manually set by myself?
  • Why doesn’t Plex have a TV guide grid view like most other TV apps (for example, like the Channels app for Apple TV)? I can’t even find a way to look at what shows are scheduled for a given channel…

“Manual” recording has been a feature request for awhile. There have been additional discussions about it here on the forum:

Thanks Chris for providing such precise answers to all 3 of my questions so promptly!!

Hopefully, once grid view goes out the door, the Plex engineering team will be able to schedule work on manual recording for the DVR functionality.
