Missing Setting: Sync watch list

Hi! Im trying to enable the sync watch list thing that should be under “Linked accounts”, but its missing on both the app.plex.tv site and the newest desktop client.

Am i missing something? How can i turn that on?

Are you using the hosted web app or the one bundled with your server (through your server’s local IP address)? IIRC this option still requires the hosted version – the bundled one is still a few releases behind.

Also, requires Plex Desktop 1.49.1.

Thank you both for your replies, ive looked for this setting in:

  • The newest version of my plex media server
  • The newest version of the app.plex.tv site
  • and the newest version of the plex app for windows (eg: 1.49.1.3146-73559c78 rn for me)
    Its just not there. do any other variables play into this setting being available?
    Ivei nstalled plex yesterday, so this is as fresh as it can probably get.

Do you have a Plex Media Server on your account (your server, not a friend to someone else)?

I ran a quick test with my secondary account. When I first logged in, I did not see the option to enable syncing of watch state. When I refreshed the web page I was then prompted to enable it.

The issue was me not having added my local plex server to my account :,)
I know that when i enable this now it will take a while to sync, can i still make changes to my watch status in that time? Will that get synced up eventually?
Or should i wait an hour before watching anything?

Edit: Also, once this feature is enabled, does it only track what i watch on libraries that are added to my or someones account?

Your Plex Server will sync your current watched status for items you have already watched. It is not instantaneous, but should take minutes, not hours.

The information is tracked per account. If the account has not enabled the feature, then then information will not be tracked.

The server libraries must be using the Plex Movie or Plex TV Series agents/scanners. Libraries using other agents/scanners are not tracked.
