Hello,
I am Czech translator of Plex. I am missing strings source for Plex app for Smart TV on Transifex translation service. It was there before, but disappeared. I need to fix some strings, but there is no way to do it now. Where are strings now?
Thanks!
It didn’t.
Most of the web app and smart TV client strings are now to be found in the project app.plex.tv.
Some are in Plex Client Service.
The new mobile apps are to be found in React Native Client.
Ah,
thank you for clarify - it will be nice to describe each module on Transifex, what is used for.
In that case, I have one particular word in Czech “staré”, which belongs to actor age on actor detail Plex page in LG webOS TV. I cannot find that particular word anymore in any of strings for correct update (it is something like “48 years old”).
Can you help me with this?
I think that is in Plex Client Service as #52 with the English original string being 1(ageInYears) years
There are additional instances of the above in app.plex.tv as #2880 and #2881
Though I have no idea where these are being used. Context information for strings is scarce in this project.
Which means the age can be the age of a person, but also equally possibly the age of a thing. I don’t know if this makes a difference in Czech.
Your findings are correct, but none of these string are exact.
When I see string, in English, I see “1{ageInYears} years”, but based on Czech translation, source should be “1{ageInYears} years old” - “old” means “staré” or “starý” and it is connected with person’s age. Problem is, that I see “staré” in Plex app in TV, but cannot find it anywhere in resources.
Is there any way, how to force rebuild TV app and make update with latest strings? Seems, that this is some kind of old string (but again, I cannot find it)… What do you think?
One possible reason may be that the current Smart TV app is deprecated.
All future apps will be based on a more unified code base.
The translations of legacy apps have already been removed from Transifex (because they charge more if you exceed a certain amount of strings).
So it is currently kind of useless trying to correct translation errors in these legacy apps.
Now, it makes sense.
As my TV is LG OLED55C9 from 2019 and not so old, does it mean, that there is new app preparing and once finished, it will be updated in TV also? Or is new app just for new TVs?
Sorry, I don’t know what these plans entail.
At the moment, these are still in effect: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204080173-which-smart-tv-models-are-supported/
My TV should be supported with no problem.
Thank you for your help and detailed explanation - it heleped much!
