Translation updates

The newest Beta 1.3 is still a translation mess.
This app is almost a year old, but there are still no updates on this.

When comes a translation update?

Hello @maxxitbaby !

We just moved to a new localization service and we are accepting contributions now. For more info: http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/229537/want-to-help-translate-localize-the-apple-tv-app#latest

The translations are not up to date since months.

Hello!

We’ve been updating iOS and tvOS translations right before every submission to the App Store, so that sounds weird. Any specific translation you’re missing?

FYI there was a recent change in some strings that has reverted previously translated strings :confounded:

Sure:

  • I’m German, helped to translate nearly everything in the tvOS App in 2016
  • on PMS 1.11.0.4666
  • using the Plex Apple TV v. 1.21

Ok so the first 3 screenshots are from strings coming from Plex Media Server. To be honest, I don’t know what’s the policy of the server team to update translations, I’ll check with them.

The rest of the screenshots are the regressions I mentioned: some strings were ā€œresetā€ for technical reasons. I see the German translation is finished in Transifex, so either the upcoming version or the next one will have those strings in it.

Thanks for reporting!

@sergiou87
there are still some untranslated strings after the latest update of the tvOS & PMS apps

Sorry I don’t have control of PMS strings :disappointed:

Which ones are untranslated on tvOS? The last update of strings for tvOS was made the 17th of January, anything translated since then is not included yet

this is still wrong, and it’s a iOS/tvOS string which is translated: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1617249/#Comment_1617249

Please update the translations in the next build.
I’ve translated some strings.

This string is not translated? Then something is broken in the way we get/update the strings from Transifex. We’ll take a look and make sure it’s fixed. Thanks for the heads up!

Finally got some time to look into this. The problem is the Top Shelf extension is like a different app, and needs to have the localized strings copied into it too. We’ll try to have it fixed for the next version, sorry for the inconvenience.

any updates on this?

Hmmm the latest tvOS beta should include those strings, doesn’t it?

fixed in the newest beta
thanks @sergiou87

I’ve translated some strings.

This still wasnā€˜t done.
In the newest beta there are still wrong translations.
E.g. I translated every ā€žEpisodeā€œ to ā€žFolgeā€œ and of course these ones ā€žS% • E%ā€œ to ā€žS% • F%ā€œ

Still ā€žS% • E%ā€œ

@maxxitbaby from what I see it should be there. But I also see in Transifex 2 different Germans  de and de_DE

Can you check in you Apple TV settings → General → Apple TV Language and see what you have exactly?

I guess you should have something like Deutsch or Deutsch (Deutschland). Could you check if switching between those makes a difference? Just trying to diagnose the issue, then I’ll fix it because it should work regardless

@maxxitbaby no need to check it, I finally found the reason. We have some instances of the same string that are not referencing the localized version :scream: :unamused:

We’ll fix that soon. Thanks for finding and reporting it!

Is this fixend in the Public 1.25?

I’m afraid it’s not. It’s a much broader change than you could expect for a localization problem :cold_sweat: It will even require to retranslate it, but instead of having 2-3 of them there will be only 1.

I’ll let you know when the new strings are in Transifex so that you can get them ready for the next release
