@moussa.uk Well, thats the whole point. It does not. At least not on the xbox.
And like the screenshot shows. i can’t select the quality. so no, i did not set it to lower.
The latest server update fixed this for me!
Im also having this problem. Never used to happen?
Having there same issue, everything has worked fine for months then today certain files just kick back a ‘server not found’ message
@spinoir @samwelburn@me.com Can your server handle transcoding? If so could you perhaps send me a sample file that displays the same issue for me to investigate?
I don’t think mine can, I have always direct played everything and never had a problem. It’s a fairly old server
@samwelburn@me.com Third party Xbox One apps can’t direct play DTS audio tracks, they will always transcode to AC3/AAC. Could you post some server logs when trying to play a problematic file?
Is this what you need? I usually get the logs wrong!
Any help would be great, everything has worked fine since the xbox app launched, now even files that used to play now don’t.
Help is greatly appreciated Moussa, thanks
@samwelburn@me.com Thanks for the logs, they’re very helpful. I’ve identified an issue and am filing internally for investigation. I believe the issue is that your file contains two audio tracks, the second of which you’ve chosen and is a DTS track which therefore requires a transcode. For some reason this is tripping the app up. A temporary solution would be to remux your file so that the audio track you want to play is first, but we will look into this and fix the issue.
Hey Mussa, any luck on this? I’m having the issue on files with a single audio track now too but could still be an issue with DTS. Either way it’s becoming pretty infuriating!!
Thanks,
Sam
@samwelburn@me.com Still being looked into, but we will (hopefully) get a fix for this in our next release. Unfortunately I can’t give any timelines on that at the moment!
@samwelburn@me.com, I had the same problem. But I sorted out mine. I had iron man 2 Straight rip with only DTS soundtrack (using makeMKV). Looking at the server log it said In 1 part, “low disk space” so after some googling and fettling I went into settings/transcoding(server) and put in a location for a larger HDD in the “Transcoder temporary directory” Box.
My problem was plex server was installed on an 60gb SSD(windows 8.1) And only had 11gb left. But had other large Hdd’s. I think for plex to transcode you need the same amount of space that the size of the movie. Is in my case was 31gb. But someone can correct me on this one if not 100% true.
I have the same problem on a Haswell i7. Server is good. However nearly all recent rips are failing on xbox on “server not available”. Works fine on android, ipad, roku, etc. It’s been going on for too long
EDIT: I also have no problem with free space and have 256GB free. So the known issues list doesn’t apply to this case, unfortunately.

Might need your server logs from when attempting to play one of the files causing issues to try and figure out what is happening.
Hey there, sorry to bump this post up but as somebody stated above it has to be some problem with the remaining hard disk capacity!
Had the same problem today and so fu** often i lost count, tho the file played perfectly yesterday. The only thing that changed today was the free space on my hard disk, you need at least the amount of file played free on the partition where PMS is installed!

Yes, when transcoding the server checks for the original file size + 100MB. It’s not necessarily where PMS is installed, but the drive/partition where you have set as the transcode directory. IE I have mine set to transcode to my main zpool so the check see’s a few TB free versus the 10’s of GB free on the SSD plex is installed to.
