MKV with embedded subtitles does not show subtitles at all

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Player Version#: Plex for Android (TV) 10.26.0.2578

This issue is present since 2 years now, and I am annoyed enough to post it again and see if something changes this time.

I have lots of MKV files. They have the subtitles embedded.
The Subtitles are not shown, even if activated.
My current workaround is to turn on activate Burn in subtitles. The problem is that direct play is not possible with that setting.
The Burn in settings and the effect:
Automatic: Subtitles do not work at all
Only image formats: Advances subtitles work
Always: All subtitles work

If I play the MKV on my TV directly, subtitles work as expected.
I would love to use direct play. So is there a trick I do not know or could some developer please do his job and fix that issue.

Not just the new app, the problem is there since at least 2 years, so it’s the old app too. Yes the web version as well as the windows app is working fine

Ok, I have a new finding. Maybe this helps if some developer ever stumbles upon this.
I think the subtitles only stop working when transcoding is happening. As long as the TV app can use direct play, the subtitles work.

I think so. I entered the beta program just to get the newest version and maybe got rid of the problem.
My hope was that the new experience app had fixed this long time flaw.

My MKV embedded subtitles work on the mobile app but not on my Samsung TV. It’s a pretty frustrating disparity in the experiences.

Did some testing recently. So far it works on my PS5, mobile, and browser. A buddy tested it using the app on a Sony TV and it also worked.

Samsung for Plex info:
Client version: 5.91.0
Platform version: 5.5/6.5

Tried on two different Samsung TVs with different platforms versions.

Having the same issue here on Android devices
