We definitely need this!
Even if we don’t get full gesture support… They could do a lot by “rearranging the furniture” for existing functions. For example, the number of screen taps needed to turn subtitles on/off is absurd. And if you turn subs off, you need to pick which sub you want to use again when you turn them back on. It’s so many taps!
Plex, please give us some incremental improvements at least!
This seems like such a no-brainer of a feature and surely incredibly easy to implement. The Infuse interface is so much more intuitive on an iPad than Plex. Are there any plans to offer gestures for volume and brightness anytime soon?
It’s a shame that this suggestion goes back to 2014 and it still hasn’t been implemented.
Infuse does it too, it would be great to have that in the plex app.
Here 10 years later asking for this. Pretty dumb, seems like a simple ask when plexamp gets so much new settings.
Ideally when on mobile, in full screen swiping up or down would change the phones brightness on the left side. Swiping on the right side would change the phones volume.
Gestures recommend control
-swipe up-down left side of the screen to increase-decrease brightness
-swipe up-down right side of the screen to increase-decrease volume
-customize swipe left-right to seek video ,if that impossible due to low server performance and buffer ,i think double tap left-right side of the screen to skip like 10sec is also a good idea
ref.
last thing that annoy me so much is the big control bar its take almost 1/3 of the screen
-i suggest transparent control bar and you can decrease the size of control button cause we have gesture control instead
reference:
There’s an existing feature suggestion thread discussing options to add/change gestures. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Similarly there’s a suggestion discussing how to make the on-screen-controls less obtrusive – though that thread didn’t get much attention in the past.
Unless I’ve missed some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Still no implementation for this? It would be really useful to add these features and I don’t think it would take too much development time.
I find it quite surprising that this proposal received such a low number of votes. In this era, gesture control has become a fundamental feature for any media player; even if it hasn’t been implemented yet, it should be part of the development plan. Moreover, this proposal should not have to come from users, as the basic attributes of similar players imply that this feature should be a decision made independently by Plex.
I notice that many similar proposals have not been directed toward this proposals, and I even saw that employees mentioned this feature was in development six years ago.The last reply to this link This raises doubts about whether the Plex development team has a clear roadmap. While Plex is ahead of its competitors in many features, I must say that their performance in developing player functionalities has been disappointing.
