Most efficient way to put Plex in Camper

Hello,

We have our Plex Server at the house, and from time to time we take extended camping trips in the trailer. We do not always have access to the Internet, so streaming from the home server is not ideal for our need. I am thinking I will build a smaller server in a small form factor PC Chassis to put in the camper, and just copy select media files to that machine to have with us on the road. Do I have to start a second account for that second server? Am I making this too difficult? What is the most efficient way to set up a remote system?

@mabaususa since your going to be off grid and manually copying the files over why not just hook the server to the tv and use a media player that can be used offline. if you just love plex follow this guide to make it work in offline mode. https://www.howtogeek.com/303282/how-to-use-plex-media-server-without-internet-access/

Depending on your home server and how far in advance you have this planned why not just use the sync functionality? With that, there’s a bunch of low effort approaches, you could do a small android tablet with SD card expansion, sync shows in the Plex app and then hook the tablet upto a larger tv etc. I I use it regularly for flights and travel where I can’t rely on internet access.

I do it with an nvidia shield, works well as a standalone device if you’re signed in before you leave. Can’t switch users though
